Technology is the Future, of course. Technology has improved our lives and made them more comfortable in all respects.
So, at home, the amount of new gadgets and appliances (fridge, washing machine, microwave, robots, amazing TVs or spectacular furniture) makes life easier than in the past.
Thanks to technology we can eat all kinds of food during the whole year (all seasons) , although some times not all of them are completely fresh.
At work, especially in terms of information ,communication or education (for students) the advanced technology has been the greatest advantage, in a fast way in the last decades.
The most important aspect, from my point of view, is that Technology must serve Science, Medicine and Research because those fields of study are directly responsible for helping and improving people´s lives, anywhere.
I realize and I'm really impressed by the benefits that Technology provides. In fact, I take advantage of whatever I can and what I consider is useful and necessary, nowadays.
But, on the other hand I´m immensely concerned because I think Technology isn´t being used properly. Technology should be used by and for people to give them more liberty not to turn them into slaves.
I´d like to talk about smartphones. Most of the people are obsessed with them. Not only young people but also adults are tied to their smart phones, all the time. They stop doing vital actions like eating, drinking, walking or stopping, even at work or at class. And most importantly, because of smartphones, people have stopped talking to each other. What a shame!
Those small gadgets catch all their attention the whole day. Even at night, when everybody should go to bed to rest, they first of all make sure their smart phones are next to them.
Smartphones involve bad manners. A large majority use it constantly to write , to listen to or to watch funny or stupid news, videos or jokes while others try to talk to them or simply to deal with them. Also, mobiles phones are defacing reality. Sometimes, I ask somebody who is doing something with their mobile phone -"what are you doing?" and the answer is -"I´m talking" when I´m seeing how this person is writing on it.
Besides, smartphones are promoting isolation, especially among young people. I blame them for preventing pleasant meetings and funny talks. Do you think it´s normal or necessary that a ten or twelve year old child should have a mobile? How many good things is that child going to miss out because of such an unnecessary gadget, at his age?
I can´t stand the idea that in India, where hundreds of people die everyday because of the poor hygiene conditions, there are more people with access to mobile phones than to toilets.
What's the smartphones life like?... And after that, what happends with that waste? For example, in 2005 , in EE UU 98,000,000 mobiles were discarded. Where does such incredible amount of mobiles go?
What about environment and Nature? Technology takes advantage and resources from Nature. But, is Technology concerned about Nature? I don´t think so. That´s why sometimes Nature explodes of anger and terrible disasters strike. Then and just then it´s when people become aware of the real needs. Unfortunately, the less fortunate are those mainly affected.
How is the high technology helping to solve the greatest problems of the World, such as famine in so many countries?
I feel a deep indignation when every year I see that Technology invents sophisticated and expensive toys, games and video games for children, because more than ten thousand children die of hunger every day and others are forced to take weapons to kill in horrible and endless wars.
I can´t understand the fact that if we are the most intelligent of all living beings why our behavior is so despicable and stupid. Is it the human nature? I´m not sure. I guess it´s part of the plan from governments . They want us to be distracted, for example spending our time playing with our smart phones, instead of thinking, protesting and reacting for or against real and important issues.
Definitely, I firmly believe that the main problem is that Technology is managed by governments and their politicians and their real concern is money and power, instead of people´s lives...
